Legend has it... that while an Inuit warrior was wandering along the coast of Labrador (Canada), he saw that some of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) seemed to have fallen from the sky and appeared to be trapped in the rocks along the shore. Believing that the magical display trapped in the rocks was somehow connected to the spirits of his Inuit dead ancestors, he decided to use his powerful spear to free the lights. Long after, the Eskimo Inuit and the native American Innu who lived inland used a powered form of the rock to cure ailments, calling it "fire rock" or "fire stone" because of its mystical colour...
