My philosophy is simple when it comes to making or choosing collections just
let it be lovely & wearable
No matter the cost, jewellery should make a positive difference to its owner. It should give them confidence and make them feel special when they wear a particular piece.
It was 1980 when I started with my tiny shop in the Camden Passage. I called it THE STUDIO after a renowned, but no longer published art magazine, which had exerted a major influence on the development of the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements, which I specialised in at the time.
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
One extraordinary day, a lady came to The Studio with a collection of original bakelite and chrome jewellery from the 1920s Art Deco era. I became enthralled by the artistic and beauty merits of this form of art immediately and not only did I buy the collection from her, I made it my quest to find out as much as I could about it; where it was made, materials used, and so on. For a jewellery lover, it was an amazing and super-interesting journey, and at the end of it all, I decided to specialise in vintage couture costume jewellery of the finest sort.
